THE SHORT ANSWER
When does motorisation make practical sense?
Motorisation is most useful when curtains are wide, high, hard to reach or opened frequently. Its value depends on convenience, access and your routine, rather than an assumed return from energy savings.
Start with the everyday task
Consider who will operate the curtain, its weight and reach. Manual operation may be entirely suitable for an accessible smaller window.
Check the complete system
Ask for the motor and track model, power arrangement, control methods, compatible hubs, warranty and any ongoing costs. Voice support is not universal.
Plan for power and aftercare
Agree wiring or battery access before finishes are complete. Ask what happens during a power cut and who services the motor.
Our recommendation
Choose motorisation where it solves a real problem. Confirm compatibility with your existing smart-home setup in writing before ordering.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
A useful consultation brief
“This is my room, this is when the issue happens, and this is how I want the space to feel.” Add photographs, your renovation timeline and the practical constraints you already know.

Evidence to check before ordering
Use the selected manufacturer’s fabric and hardware information, the actual care label, site measurements and your written quote to confirm a recommendation. Generic category labels do not establish product-specific performance.
