Roller blinds

One clean plane. Different ways to shape daylight.

A roller blind raises cloth onto a tube. Sunscreen, dimout and blackout describe fabric choices within that mechanism. Manual and motorised describe how it operates. Choose these three decisions separately.

Fabric controls the light

Sunscreen can preserve some daytime view; dimout reduces light; blackout cloth blocks light through the fabric. Side gaps still matter.

Measure the usable opening

Handles, recess depth and the roll diameter affect the fit. A recess mount and an outside mount have different light-gap trade-offs.

Specify one or two layers

Where both view and evening privacy matter, discuss separate layers or a curtain combination.

How we would style it: A close colour match to the wall creates a quiet look. A textile texture adds softness without the volume of drapes.

Questions about roller blinds

What is a sunscreen blind?

It is commonly a roller blind fitted with an open-weave screening fabric. Elegant Seal lists it as a roller-fabric option.

Are roller blinds always blackout?

No. Select the fabric for the required light control and discuss gaps around the blind.
