Double-pleat curtains

Tailored at the top. Expressive in the drape.

A double-pleat heading gathers the fabric into pairs of sewn pleats. Often called a double pinch pleat, it produces a defined top and a more tailored fall. The fabric can still be sheer, dimout or blackout.

Look at the pleat close up

Examine the paired folds, stitching and spacing. A small heading sample tells you more about the finish than a distant room image.

Compare the finished stack

Stack-back depends on cloth, fullness and hardware. Do not assume every double pleat uses less space than every wave curtain.

Balance pattern and scale

Check the motif at the sewn top and across adjoining panels. Pattern alignment and hems should be part of the quote.

How we would style it: A textured neutral gives a modern classic room quiet structure. Patterned or softly lustrous cloth adds depth beside simpler upholstery.

Questions about double-pleat curtains

Is double pleat the same as blackout?

No. Double pleat is the sewn heading. Blackout describes a fabric or lining performance choice.

Can double pleats work in a modern condo?

Yes. A restrained colour, appropriate fabric weight and simple track can give a modern room a tailored finish.
